My definition of a Spirit guide: a spiritual being of a high vibration. An agent of the Universe who serves as a protector or guide for an incarnate human.

We all have a divine team that has been with us since our inception in this lifetime. These beings are of extremely high vibrations and come from higher dimensional realms to help us through life. They are made of pure love and light from the Universe and truly want what is best for us. Their job is to help our soul evolve and grow in this human lifetime. These guides can be many different types of beings such as Angels, Archangels, Animal guides, Extraterrestrial guides, Ascended Masters or Teachers. Some guides will take on a human likeness to help us understand them easier, others are simply an energetic vibration or color resonance. We all have at least one guide who stays with us throughout our entire life to guide and protect us. Others guides, such as Masters and Teachers, may come into our lives to help us learn a specific lesson that is important for our soul’s evolution and then they will move on once that lesson is complete.

How can you connect?

First, invitation! If you feel like you are ready to work more closely with your guides, invite them into your life, they love a formal invitation! They have been sending you messages and nudging you quietly throughout your whole life, but a verbal or written invitation really gets them going. Once you send out your invitation, start a conversation with them and be open to receive. Know and trust that whatever comes through is the beginning of a blossoming relationship. You may not feel anything in that moment, and that is ok! By simply putting your intention out into the Universe your guides will hear you and respond to you in their own way. A relationship with your guides is just like any other, you slowly get to know each other and begin to speak the same language over time. There are many small ways our guides like to connect and send messages when they feel we are on the right path. They may send you “Angel numbers,” butterflies crossing your path, or a song with a meaningful message that comes on at just the right time.

Meditation! Have a seat in a quiet space where you feel safe and secure. Begin your meditation in the usual way, by closing your eyes and begin to quietly connect to your breath and body. Once you are feeling relaxed and open, state your true intention for the meditation - ask your guides to join you. Trust and know that your guides have heard your intention and are surrounding you, sending you love and support. Open yourself up for conversation with them while in meditation and thank them for joining you, they love gratitude!

Journal! Write an invitation for your guides to communicate with you and then begin to free write. Write out any message that comes through your mind and do not second guess it. Your guides will be speaking to your directly through your own pen and paper!

Oracle cards! While shuffling your cards set an intention and ask that your guides steer you in choosing your next card. Trust and know that the card you choose is a message from them.
