Newsletter #20 - Part 2: Wellness doesn’t have to cost a lot of (or any) money!
I have to admit, I’m easily influenced. I fall victim to Instagram adds for new workout equipment and am totally down to try all the new, trendy beauty tools that pop up on my TikTok #fyp.
I think its important to remember that they are usually supported, even sponsored by the diet and fitness industry, which is multibillion dollar industry.
In an effort to re-evaluate my consumerism and my spending I came up with a few things related to health and wellness that are cheap (less than $10) or FREE!
When you did the wheel of life assessment last week - where was your wellness poor?
Free or cheap ways to improve your mental and emotional wellness:
o Meditation: a great tool to slow down, reflect, and connect to your true feelings. This can be done without any tools or tricks. You can do it in 30 minutes or longer, its up to you.
o Journaling: I buy my go-to journal on amazon for less than $10, there are many options for cheap journals at places like TJ Maxx. Journaling is another way to connect to your inner dialogue and center your thoughts and feelings.
o TV: I do not watch scary or stressful things. I think this is especially important for people who already deal with stress and anxiety at work or personally. Personally I feel like we deal with enough stress in our daily lives, do we really need to add more to it?
o Phone: Set limits with your phone, do not use your phone when you first wake up and before bed. Give yourself time to transition into and out of your busy day without the overstimulation that the phone provides.
o Music: listen to uplifting music to support your subconscious– I wrote more about that here, and created this Spotify playlist of uplifting music.
It would mean the world to me if you shared this newsletter with someone you love.
