Magical Herbs: Basil

Basil (Ocimum basilicum)

Magical meanings:

love, abundance, protection

Medical magic:

  • Helps blood circulation (think improve heart circulation = activate heart chakra = love).

  • Kill bacteria on skin, acne treatments

  • Mood booster – helps with depression, burnout

Magical uses:

  • Protection:

    • Plant around your house for protection from negative outside energies.

    • Sprinkle dried basil in front of doorways. Negative energies will not be able to cross.

    • Place a small amount in each room to protect the energy in the room. Remove after 24 hours.

  • Abundance

    • Place basil in your wealth area (far right corner of the home). Even more activation if you gather four plants together (4 is the number of the wealth Gua).

    • Keep a satchel of basil in your pocket for daily luck and abundance.

    • Businesses can keep basil by the cash register, online businesses keep basil near where you calculate finances (ie, you desk).

    • Candle magic – dress a green candle with basil and meditate on your abundance mindset, repeat wealth activation affirmations. Let the candle burn completely or snuff if out if you must, do not blow it out (this blows your intention away from you).

    • Seep basil in your home made cleaner or vinegar– call in abundance as your clean your surfaces or floors.

    • Add basil to your orange Feng Shui energy clearing spray and use it to call in abundance when clearing the energy from your home.

  • Love

    • Activates heart chakra when smelled and eaten. When using for cooking, visualize pouring loving intentions into the meal as you add it in.

    • Plant basil in the relationship gua (far left corner of the home). To call in partnership or increase activation plant two plants together (2 is the number for this Gua).

    • Gift a basil plant to new home owners/renter, newly engaged or married couples (Italian tradition). This brings luck, love, and fortune to the home. As well as fertility to the partnership.
