Newsletter Issue #7

On my mind this past week -

I still work full time as a neonatal nurse practitioner and this past week I was working night shift. Having to work night shift is one of my least favorite aspects of my job and I usually try to group them all together to “get them over with.” Whenever I have a night shift week I’m more stressed and overwhelmed than usual, I find myself emotionally unstable due to lack of sleep, and because of this I really focus on my self-care practices. I show myself extra love and grace to support my mind, body, and soul.

For me this looks like: meal prepping nourishing meals, moving my body every day while listening to my favorite podcasts, drinking a lot of water and tea, yoga nidra naps before work, listening to affirmations whenever possible, and reminding myself it’s ok to not unload the dishwasher or wash and/or fold the laundry if I don’t feel like it.

We are reaching a point in the year where a lot of people start to be affected by the darkness of the winter season and the stress and overwhelm of the holidays. Can I challenge you to lean into your self-care practices?

A few months ago I wrote in my newsletter about energy givers vs. energy takers (I made it into a blog post if you want to read it). I wrote about differentiating between those things that just light you up from the inside out vs. those things that just drain you and make you feel “ugh” about life.

Questions for you - What feeds your energy? What drains it?

Can you take the time this week to think of, better yet, write down, a list of energy givers and takers in your life. Look at your list and consider if changes could be made to your daily or weekly routine to increase the energy giving in your life.

Home Energetics - Self Love in Romantic Transition

I recently worked with a client going through a major life change. She just ended a long-term relationship, moved out, and was starting fresh in a new space. During our session we discussed all the highs and lows of new beginnings, moving intentionally into new space, and how to energetically set herself up for this season of self-love and discovery.

One of my most important Feng Shui tips for people moving through the ending of a relationship is to buy a new bed and/or bedding. We spend more time than we realize in our beds, and our bed is important for many aspects of our life; our energy levels, health, relaxation, and romance. A shared bed with a partner, over time, holds their energy too, the same goes for the sheets and pillows. When you are ready to move on from the relationship a major adjustment to the energy of your space is to purchase a new bed, mattress, and sheet set with fresh energy. If a new mattress or bed is not an option, new sheets or pillows will also help and can be more cost effective. The new items will exclusively hold your energy and will help you to focus on yourself as you shed that energy from the past relationship.

Send this tip to your friend undergoing a similar transition to help them move on with love and support in their home energetics.
