Boosting Hydration and Morale in the NICU: A Successful Wellness Challenge

At our high-level NICU in Washington, DC, the advanced practice providers face daily challenges that demand their utmost dedication and resilience. Recognizing the importance of maintaining optimal health and wellness, I initiated a wellness committee to address chronic health issues among our team members. Our mission is to educate, inspire, encourage, and support healthier lifestyle choices.

For the month of June, I launched a hydration challenge aimed at increasing water intake while reducing soda and caffeine consumption. Understanding the vital role hydration plays in overall well-being, I set out to make this challenge both fun and impactful.

To incentivize participation, I reached out to several water bottle companies, seeking support for our cause. I was thrilled when Owala responded with enthusiasm, offering to sponsor our challenge. They generously provided nine free water bottles for those who completed the challenge, adding an exciting reward for our efforts.

The response from our team was incredible. We achieved an impressive 78% participation rate, demonstrating the commitment of our staff to improving their health. The highlight of the challenge was undoubtedly the reaction when the Owala water bottles arrived. Everyone was thrilled and genuinely grateful for the thoughtful and practical reward.

This successful hydration challenge not only boosted our team's hydration levels but also fostered a sense of community and shared purpose. It was a tangible reminder that small, positive changes can have a significant impact on our well-being.

I'm proud to share this experience as evidence of my ability to organize and host successful corporate wellness challenges. The support from Owala was instrumental in making this initiative a success, and I'm excited to continue developing programs that enhance the health and happiness of our team.
