Newsletter #22 - Part 3: Wellness doesn’t have to be expensive!
In an effort to re-evaluate my consumerism and my spending I’m working on not falling victim Instagram adds and TikTok trends related to health and wellness.
This week I’ve created a list of free or cheap ways to improve your social wellness. Social wellness is feeling supported by and connected within partnership, friends, family, and community.
Check out previous newsletters here for more info like the wheel of life assessment to evaluate where your wellness is lacking, and free or cheap ways to improve your physical, and mental and emotional wellness.
Free or cheap ways to improve your social wellness:
I used to think that spending time with family or friends had to be by like going out and doing activities like eating and drinking (spending money). Here are some free or cheap alternatives:
Go on a walk - my favorite! I go on walks with friends to the DC arboretum all the time. Check out a local park or trail and connect with friends there!
Rent a movie at home or watch a show you like together - my friend Kaitlyn and I watch Survivor together and it makes watching so much more fun!
Game night - my favorite games are telestrations (my true #1) and monopoly deal card game.
Card writing party - during the holidays I’ll get together with friends to all write our holiday cards together. This doesn’t have to mean Christmas only - who doesn’t want a 4th of July card?!
Vision board party - I love vision board parties because everyone can share magazines and photos and talk about their goals to inspire each other.
Potluck - Invite friends, family, and neighbors over for a little gathering. I love getting people together from all different parts of my life, the conversations are always so interesting and people contribute really good food!
Join a local community club or volunteer – I joined my local garden club, it was $15/year and they have small events, like seed sharing or flower arranging, hosted by neighbors throughout the year.
It would mean the world to me if you shared this newsletter with someone you love.
