Newsletter from 3/17/24

Good morning,

It’s really starting to feel like Spring around here and I am so excited! Don’t get me wrong I love winter too. I can definitely appreciate winter for the time and space it gives for personal hibernation and incubation, where everything is cold, contemplative, and cozy, it can be so nourishing when we lean into it.

Personally I feel like I’ve been in that winter mood for some time now. I’ve been trying to figure out what I want in life, sitting with my options and dreams, incubating some ideas. One of them being this newsletter! I’m still working out what I want to offer here and how I want to show up for this community (I’m always open to feedback, so write to me, let me know what your want to see here!). Maybe the changing vibes of the seasons will help me discern what it is I’m ready to put forth and what still needs time to grow. I’m hoping the brighter the sun gets, the clearer my intention.

Are you ready for Spring? Is there anything you’re still incubating from Winter? I’d love to hear from you!

My Brain Health Diet

Last week I wrote about my increased risk for Alzheimer’s and how I’m dealing with it. This week I wrote about one of my most important risk reducers - my brain health diet.

Spring Feng Shui

Buy Yourself Some Flowers!

Flowers are known to bring active and fresh energy to a space. You can approach this in different ways - one you can simply choose a flower that brightens your mood when you see it, two you can choose a color that relates to a particular bagua section or energy, or three placing flowers into different areas of your home can activate that area’s bagua energy. Check out my previous blogs about flowers and Feng Shui and the bagua map for more inspiration.

More about brain health

In my health coaching coarse at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition I was introduced to Dr. Daniel Amen and his findings and teachings about nutrition and brain health. I listened to his lecture for the course twice already and cannot get enough of his work. Here is one of his TEDx talks, where he talks about his work as a psychiatrist researching scans of both sick and healthy brains and gives tangible tips to improve brain health.

Getting Clear on my Intention

Writing myself a letter for 30 days

As I wrote above, I’ve been in the wintering season of figuring my life out. More specifically as it relates to this newsletter, my blog, and career - What do I want to share? How can I help people live their best lives and become the best versions of themselves? Will I become a health coach? How can I show up as my most authentic self in this space?

I’ve decided I’m going to write myself a letter of what I truly want my life to look like and how I want to show up, everyday, for one month. This is a practice I’m adopting from the book I shared last week, Change Your Paradigm, Change Your Life.

Will I come to realizations? Will my habits or my life change? I’m not sure, but I want to see if this will help. I’m putting this here for my own accountability, and also to inspire anyone else who may be stuck in the wintering season. Join me and let’s see what happens.

Thank you for being here. I am incredibly grateful for you.

Love, Jacey
