How cute is this little neighborhood positivity campaign?

Decluttering is HARD

“Without cleanliness we create fewer opportunities for ourselves. Nothing positive nor beautiful flows from chaos.” Brianna Weist in The Mountain is You. Here are my tips to make decluttering it easier. Decluttering in small steps can be surprisingly refreshing, motivating, and helps reduce overwhelm. My recommendation is to start with one area or item category at a time, like t shirts, towels, tools, old makeup. I also find that if I’m decluttering for a specific cause the items are easier to part with. This month my colleagues and I are decluttering our linens to donate to our local animal shelter. Our local shelter put out a request for used linens, and we are answering the call! Imagining a sad little doggy cuddling up with my old beach towels or blankets make them way easier to part with. Are there any local organizations near you that could benefit from your used goods? Here are some other examples - Play It Again Sports for used sports gear and camping supplies, Women’s Shelters for unopened toiletries (like all those hotel shampoos and soaps that you swore you’d use :))

Listen to this gratitude playlist while you declutter to put you in the right head space.

Meeting Prep

This week I had an important phone call. I wanted to be clear headed, prepared, and calm during this meeting. I did all the normal preparations like researching the company, gathered notes, and wrote down a few thoughtful questions, but the most important thing I did was go for a walk.

I scheduled time for a 20 minute walk right before the meeting. Here’s why, research shows that exercise, even a short walk, improves creativity, focus, mental clarity. If you don’t have time to go for a walk or are stuck in an office, try doing 10 squats at your desk, a quick flight of stairs, or I love a 10 minute YouTube video, like stepping - beginner friendly or fast paced, chair pilates, or yoga.

Fall Meal Prep

Meal prepping streamlines my week and reduces the burden of decision making on a daily basis. Try one of my go to meal prepped breakfasts to make your day easier - chia seed pudding, with two versions of fall inspired flavors, pumpkin and sweet apple.
